I have a PATS code coming up on the scanner but dont think a regualar Snap-On Scanner can reset it...its drivin me nuts all the car does is crank and no start. Light on dash by clock just flashes fast. I have found I can buy a scanner/computer that locksmiths use to clear it, but its like $2,500 bucks. I refuse to tow it to the dealer for various reasons I will not go into. HELP!!

Just use your spare PATS key and ensure you have no metal objects near it when you insert in ignition. That should reset the system. If you have key with damaged insert, only dealer can re-code system and provide matching keys.

when I got the car it only came with one key, so I bought another had it cut and programmed the key myself. Drove it like this for 6 monhts.. Had a new trans put on with a lightened flywheel and about 200 miles later it just cuts out and gives me a PATS code.. neither of my keys will work at all, now she just sits in front of my house all lonely. I have the dash totally apart looking for any loose or disconnected wires. and nothing. I appreciate you trying to help me though. Well if you can think of anything else let me know.. are there any grounds near the trans area that would have to do with the PATS system??

you need to check the code at a dealer. if the pcm is recieving an incorrect code, the pcm will need to be reprogrammed. if it is recieving no code, the key will have to be replaced, and if there is a circuit failure, the transponder will need to be replaced or the wiring repaired. PATS is not very user-friendly when it comes to fixing it yourself.
