I was reading over at focaljet (looking for info on 2001 Focus Zetec oil weight topic, in addition to what I've read here), and I saw a lot of people complaining of breaking their B&M Shifter. I know Terry has mentioned one person breaking that part right at the lower ball the attaches to the cable linkage (just like the Focus guys I read about).

I was just wondering how many people here have had that problem, and if so, how B&M handled your replacement. I don't really have a reciept (if it was to break) since I got mine from a GB through CTA, but I supposed Chris would have no problem producing doumentation showing when I bought it if needed.

That was me Jason. According to Terrys view after tearing the shifter apart, the B&M Shifter has really crappy welds when coming from the factory. And the welds at the ball joint had to break at the very worst time. mad

To make a long story short, I had to get my car towed to Terry's house in order to get the shifter welded back on.

Doesn't B&M have a "lifetime" warranty on their shifters?

A lifetime warranty doesn't mean jack when your car is broke down on a street.

If they paid for the labor and towing expenses as part of the warranty, that would be great.

well, my insurance will pay for a tow up to a certain mile, and as for labor to install one, don't most people install it themselves? I didn't have a big problem installing mine.

laugh wink

I bought my 00 SVT with a B&M and it snapped on route 1 (roosevelt boulevard). That was pretty fun. But after it got towed and all i couldnt get it replaced because the previous owner didnt include any of the paper work or the factory shifter. So i had to buy a ford stock shifter.
