Has anyone tried putting the Cougar suspension (struts, springs, etc.) on a Contour? How about putting the Cont SVT suspension on a Cougar? I think a Cougar with an SVT suspension upgrade would be really neat. How about SVT brakes on Cougar?

There's no problem swapping back and forth, '98+ Contour for Cougar.

There's nothing even remotely special about an SVT's suspension BTW... I really wouldn't bother.

You could do a lot better than a stock SVT suspension for the money.

I would have to disagree...The EO and E1 svt's have different front control arms and i'm not sure if they're the same as the cougar. And the SVT brakes are the same as the cougar if I remember I'm actually trying to find out if a cougar subframe will fit on the CSVT 98 EO.

What are you disagreeing on? The fact that they cross over? If so, check your source.

Don't know about the subframes being different parts, but I'd like you to explain to me the technical benefits of swapping those.

I thought we had established that geometrically the rest of the suspension attachment points are located in the same places... the very reason why all aftermarket hardware crosses over.

Maybe I'm missing something though? Let me know.

I'm talking about the front control arms mostly. Because the EO and E1 control arms are different. EO bolts up with 4 bolts and the E1 does with 2. I have no idea about the cougar, I myself am trying to find out. I just haven't had the time to explore for details. The rest of the parts are all direct bolt ups. I'm currently replacing the whole rear subframe/suspension assembly.

Sounds like an interesting project you've got. But I'm still questioning the benefits you plan on reaping. What are you after that you can't get with the Contour's subframes??

Aah! Now I get it.. thought you were swapping out perfectly good Contour parts, thinking you'd benefit from the Cougar ones. If it's a repair, then I don't see why not.
