Hi,
Yesterday my tour didn't start, there was not any crank the battery was ok, all the lights in the dash where on, it just had no crank, (I tried to start it just 5 minutes after turn it off)
I checked all fuses under the hood, all where ok, took the PCM fuse for a while 3-4 minutes, then put all the fuses in their place, tried to start again and there was no problem,
After that started 2 or 3 times normally,
Then at night again I had a short stop, after driving 40 miles or so, turn it off and tried to turn if on again, and then the same, no crank, checked again fuses tried to start some times nad there was no crank, again took the PCM fuse off for 5 or more mninutes and took it back, and again started without problems,

Any idea!!,
Please help!!,
It only appears to happen when the car is hot, yesterday when I came home tried to start it again, and didn't crank, this morning cranked whitout problems,

I have had a very similar problem with my '00 SVT. It turns out that the starter was going bad. I replaced that and haven't had any problems yet. My symptoms were the same as yours, good battery, no crank. It would only happen occasionally. I am thinking that this might be the same problem as you. If your is a MTX try to push start it when it is having the problem, that way you won't be stranded anywhere. I hope this helps.

I am not sure of the cost as mine was covered under warranty. It should be fairly easy to replace though. I have never seen a hard starter to replace yet. I think I have read somewhere that the starter cost somewhere around 150, but dont' quote me on that. Like I said I think I read that price somewhere. If I do remember right it did usually happen when the car was warm. Hopefully this helps you out.

I think the starter is shoot, not hot related,
I have just tried to tart it again when cold and didn't crank, I'll have checked the starter,
Thanks a lot!!

If it is your starter, then it's probably the brushes in your starter.

In a pinch, you should be able to get the starter to work by having someone tap your starter while someone else cranks the engine.

It's an old trick that I used to do on my old chevy. You can get the brushes to move a little so that the starter will turn. However, you really need to get the starter replaced. I just replaced mine. Search around the forums for more information about it.

Good Luck!

starters aren't exactly cheap to buy about $160...i replaced mine a couple weeks ago...mine had trouble when it was cold....it wasn't too hard to replace....it isn't exactly easy either though....you have to remove a few things to make it easier(air filter assembly, battery, battery tray, helps to remove coolant hose also)the bolt nearest the firewall is easy with a long extension, the one at the front requires an open end wrench...the electrical connectors are a pain(takes some patience)...not too hard a job, just have to remove the right stuff to make room, and use some patience....
