I've been to Tyson's Ford a few times. Had some problems 2-3 years ago getting some warranty work done (first the fuel filler neck, then a set of brake rotors). Went there again fairly recently for a bad wheel bearing and they were much better, like a different shop. Probably due to the fact that my car is now out of warranty and I paid out of pocket.

It does seem strange that it would take 2700 miles for the oil to leak out, and I don't even know how it would be possible to install the oil filter incorrectly... unless it was too loose or something.

Just an FYI,

I had a new engine put in by TH, and I am very satisfied. He charged way less than the dealer would have, and my car is running great. He's a busy guy, but if you can wait, it's definately worth it. IMHO..

Thanx GVSUSVT,

That's good to know, I've read similiar things on the boards here and at the "other" place.

I talked with the dealership this morning and they gave me the name of the warranty rep who declined the job, can't get him on the phone... I went there in person and they showed me the vehicle up on the lift and I talked to the mechanic who was there with the adjuster that looked at the car for ford warranty services and he showed me the area where the oil filter was and there was oil on the front pipe... the oil filter was loose to touch and he told me that he hadn't looked at it before the adjuster came out but the car was a quart and a half to two quarts low when he brought it in (Before he tore it open) The other thing he said all of the bearings were spun... all six. Which made him think it was a starvation issue... If the oil filter came loose would oil pressure drop? Everybody at the dealership seemed to be mystified (No pun intended)also... I called the place where I recieved my last oil change and he was very amused by the fact that an improperly installed oil filter could last 2700 miles. He told me that the warranty people were just trying to get out of covering the job. I've spoken to an attorney and he said that we would just file suit against everyone (Dealership, Autolube, Ford warranty services)if there is no resolution... The kick is I can only sue for the engine and not sue for the legal fees, tow, and rental car charges... I'm envisioning a wash... So I called my insurance company and filed a claim with them, worst they can say is no... Cars suck, Money sucks, Ford sucks that's how I feel right now... 5 hours for the diagnosis at 97.00 labor plus tax then I have to tow the car home if it isn't going to be fixed... I still owe money on the car so I won't fix out of pocket right now...
Thanx to everybody for the replies and input
I appreciate the forum to vent and just get it out...

Latest developement:

Anyway it seems that the dealership is doing it's best to try and piss me off, make me go in there and yell at them so they can call the police and discredit me... They took two days to get me a written estimate... I told them at 0900 yesterday that I wanted a written estimate and diagnosis/description of problem faxed to my fiance by 1500 she called there at 1530 and the guy SA said he was going to send it before he left at 1600. Well this morning NOTHING!!! My fiance called and talked to the service manager he said he would have it to her in 10 minutes that was at 1110 today(She commented on how nice he was :0) and we didn't get it in ten minutes)well at 1615 I called and talked to someone else who said he was the service manager and he said he sent it all ready. So I asked him to read me the time sent off of the transaction report or the coversheet or the fax log... He then said "hold on one second the service manager just got off the phone" he put me on hold and then another service manager got on the phone... When we finally got the estimate and written description/ Problem statement @ 1700 it was a pathetic, hand written on one page not a comprehensive list of parts and services that you would expect from a dealership, and they never diagnosed the problem (Oil starvation, misuse, faulty workmanship etc) they just put down what was broke... Funny stuff
They were going to charge me 5 hours labor to find the original problem (That's laughable) until we put up a fuss... I used Blue oval news to get in touch with Ford's Regional Executive and he called there to find out what was going on with my car before I called yesterday for the written estimate and description of problem statement from the dealership which is why I suspect they are stalling. My guess is they think I'm going to take them to court so it would be better if I go down there and make a big fuss... I'm going to call to the dealership and tell their service manager that I can't believe it took two days to get a piece of paper that took a minute for him to write up...
I'd like to post a scan of this estimate
if anyone can help it would be appreciated
