Well I bought the 75mm ProM from wavrdvr and installed it this weekend and started the car up. The car started fine but when came to idle it was very rough and eventualy died. I have the optimizer but its broke in areas. The MAF was for a 2000 Contour SVT so do I need to send my chip to Superchips for reburn or will the optimizer take care of this idle problem?

The Mass Air meters are calibrated to a specific code that is on your original mass air meter. Unless your meter and wavrdvr had the same code it isnt going to work very well. If you get in touch with Pro-M they will be happy to recalibrate it for $100, the optimizer is supposed to be used for making changes in A/F by changing the voltage that is sent to the PCM from the mass air.

Well that sucks since i payed $145 for this used. now pay another $100. So i just got raped. cool.

Did you RESET your PCM before you restarted the engine??

This allows the PCM to relearn to idle.
While the PCM may not be able to fully compensate for the new Mass Air Flow, what ever it lacks, you could have reburned into your SuperChip.

Unfortunately...

MAF's are calibrated by 4 things:

Filter type (conical or panel), injector size, Model Year & Original MAF Number

2000 SVT's had a completely different MAF, electronics, and casing compared to any other Contour year.

Like Buckshot said you could probably tune it correctly with an S-AFC... Though that adds $300 and $100 dyno time at least...

The TPS Throttle Position Sensor might have gone out of range when you reinstalled it.

my bad. I re-read the post. I was thinking that he replaced the throttle body and the MAF with a 75mm. at same time.
