An area for new contour owners. It could field questions like:
1. What is the best airfilter?
2. What brand turbo should I get?
3. I need more horsepower, what should I get?
4. Anyone put stickers on their windows on a Contour?
5. Help me spend money on my car.

If you don't like the suggestion, then be it. I enjoy reading posts by people with 1000+ posts. I comment very little personally. Everyone was new once. So lets have an area for them. Instead of clogging up the performance section.

I second the notion.
While there are sections similar to this... the How-Tos and the FAQ, etc., it might be a good idea to steer newbies that way via links or what not.

Yea, and then we could have a section for asians, and blacks, and middle-easterners, and canadians, and.....

We're lucky to have new members with or "orphaned" cars.

Hey guys! I have a couple of questions for you guys, I hope you can help!

*What is that annoying noise when I start my car on cold mornings?

*What are some of the differences between the SE V6 and an SVT?

*Do they make Altezzas for the contour?

*What rims fit my car?

*Why does everybody tell me to use the search button? I tried it but it took too long!

*What speakers will fit in my doors?

*How do I bypass the factory amp?

:p laugh

I think it is a good idea, but I don't believe that it would be used. What will happen if the newbies don't think their question is being ansered quick enough. They will hit one of the regular forums. I will probably just clog us some of Lance's bandwidth.

That might be a good idea...but a better idea might be to try posting in the correct forum.

Try sending the suggestion directly to Lance and see what his thoughts are. I don't remember his email off-hand but I think its linked from the main CEG page. laugh

I like the idea, but it will still take more "senior" members to answer the questions...which I certainly don't mind doing. laugh I'm kind of at that point where I understand enough about my car that I can help others to some degree. (Nothing too technical)

It's a good idea but you'd almost want to designate a group of knowledgeable people to answer the questions.

Why not have a FAQ section, where it is unable to be posted to, but has all of the faqs on the first page of the section, you know? It could be called, "Have Questions? Check here First." Just a suggestion

I would like to see a DIY section or a TECH section.

Something that refers back to the HOW TO section, and also incorporates a FAQ that we could ALL contribute to.
Something that covers the basics...

Maintenance Items
Spark Plugs
Ignition Wires
Filters
Wipers
Bulbs
etc.

Service Items
Belts
Brakes
Throttle Body
Intake Manifold
Alternator
Transmission
etc.

We can also post our own REVIEWS of products we have tried and what does and doesn't work well on our cars.
e.g. The many different types and brands of spark plugs. Write a review and tell what you are using and why. What you tried, and what didn't you like about them.
Possibly put some polls together so as people go through the DIY/Tech section, they can vote for what they are currently using. Then we can see what are the most popular replacement parts.

Place it at the TOP of the list of Forums, where it can't be missed, and it should also be referenced as a starting point, somewhere along the way, following the registration process.

Once this has been accomplished, THEN we can have a warning on the posting page that reads something like...

"In the interest of our users, we ask that you only post new subjects, after you have checked with our DIY/Tech and FAQ sections.
If a suitable answer cannot be found, or your post does not relate any subjects found, then by all means continue !"

It can also be paraphrased to say... this helps to reduce the cost of maintaining this site, by keeping our forums in an organized fashion.
