You better have better evidence to back up you BS claim than 1 video with somebody that had a bad launch...

Car and Driver quoted a mid-8 second 0-60 time for a 1997 5-spd. The best magazine time I found for a V6 ATX is closer to 9 seconds.

I have a 5-speed zetec and an ATX duratec...I drive them both often, they're damn near the same quickness. The duratec does feel a bit better in the upper revs.

who's gunna win?

This might be a stupid question, but i thought all of the SE's were V6. Hens the term...Sport Edition. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Pre-98 SE's were all V6...on post 98's the SE meant absolutely nothing except the extra badge...

Back to the original topic: the cars would be so even, it would come down to the better driver. I wouldn't put money on it...

i have raced both a manual and auto 1995 v6 mustang hardtop and beat both pretty badly. the 1997's have the same engine and the convertible would be even heavier. i have a bone stock atx duratec and they run about 17 flat in the quarter so 16.99 should be more than enough to beat an auto v6 mustang convertible. i know from plenty of experience of smoking v6 mustangs.

good luck though

Well since their is a video on here that shows that a duratec auto beats a MTX zetec, I have call you on that BS. Only way that is possible is if your bro can't drive a ATX, which if that is the case the apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree.

If your comming to nationals in chicago I will show you first hand why I called you on that B.S. Of course that is allmotor. On a track of course!

I'll be there but in the 3.0 I'm not trying to start the zetec vs duratech wars back up, but my car had a k&n and no res at the time and the duratech was stock. No powershifting was done on the atx, it was on a country road at night so we only got to about 75, but I was leading then. Sorry I didnt tape it. at the same tiem I'm not setec activist here, I mean aside fromt he bearings and oil starvation... the duratech is a good little motor. For now my zetec's beat up someone hit me, so I picked up a 95 se with a spun bearing and a 3.0 it'll be done in a few weeks

I haven't driven a zetec, but I own a atx duratec. I can imagine the zetec pulling pretty good off of the line because of the gearing, but the duratec pulls pretty strong in the high rpms. I can't remember what the duratec shifts out of first at, but it is a pretty tall gear. Even on the freeway in second, it still pulls pretty good in the 4500-6500 range.

Hey! As long as both cars are slow, it's still a race!
