Hi.
I've read alot in the archives where people have fixed there atx problems by replacing either the 'Speed Sensor' or the 'Selector Lever Position Sensor'.
The Tranny Repairman did a code scan and said the Tranny needs rebuilding ($1900). Does it really???
I've already had it rebuilt once at 56kmiles (it's now at 100k).

Is there a way I can tell I for sure need a rebuild before shelling out the cash??? Should I just replace the aformentioned components in the off chance they'll fix the problem???

Here's what the car does:
Doesn't shift to 2nd until about 4k or 5k RPM.
I can make it shift-to 2nd, most times, if I bump the gas at about 3kRPMs. Then, as I accelerate, it goes to 3rd fine but never 4th gear. At 60mph I'm at 3.5kRPMs.
Can I keep driving like this if I baby it?

Any help much appreciated.

A Speed Sensor or Selector Position Sensor will cause the transmisison to 'HUNT' for gears or shift erratically.
You don't have either problem.
Your problem sounds like a low pressure problem which is caused by a clogged SUMP Pickup, or a worn Valve Body.

Time for a rebuild.
