I replaced the mega fuse, still have the battery light problem. Now the Speedo is not working. Could I have hit a wire or something by mistake while replaceing the mega fuse?
BTW what is a good repair manual for the 1998 zetec Contour??
your not alone............. I have the same problem I,ll post the results, when we find the problem look at other post and their are more of us looking into this !
I had my battery light coming on as well at higher rpm. Turned out to be the alternator. You said you changed your mega fuse. Was it blown or was this an atempt to source the problem. If it was blown the surge may have taken something out when it went as you say the speedo is messed up.

NO I replaced the mega fuse trying to fix the problem. I did the "fonzie" trick on the dashboard and the speedo jumped back into life. So that problem is solved (?). I still need to resolve the battery light issue. I'm tempted to say that it is the alternator.
Based on what you've said I'd concur with that theory. Sounds like the speedo has a case of morning sickness though.
