A mechanic service my car by flushing the
old ATX fluid and fill new ones.

He told me that 4 quarts is enough for my
ATX and show me the level from ATX fluid
level dipstick.

But from Haynes Manual, it is said that my
ATX needs 10 quarts of fluid. I am totally
confused by this..

By the way, this dipstick is bought from
a Ford dealer, the original one is lost.

Recently my car has rough idle, rough gas
pedal, rough acceleration, rough braking.
Are all these related to transmission problem?

thanks for your advice!

The atx holds I believe 12 quarts total. The drain plug will only allow 4 quarts to drain out of the pan. Ford says drain and refill four quarts run engine for a few minutes, shift through all gears then drain and refill another four quarts. Only way to completley change fluid is to disconnect the line and let it pump old stuff out as you add fresh into the pan.

A drain and refill on a V6 is 3.7 qts. It doesn't sound like you had a real flush, which changes all the fluid.
BTW, it's easier to do a simple drain and refill than change to engine oil. If you do the oil yourself then also do the trans once a year during one of the oil changes.
