I'm not sure that I understand all that you are saying. I understand that the clutch pedal needs much less force to push it down. Are you also saying that the shifter is funny?

Since I can't feel your clutch from long distance I cannot tell if yours is abnormal, but let me explain something about clutches. As the clutch disc wears, the geometry changes on the leverage to activate the clutch, so that the pedal gradually becomes stiffer and stiffer. It is gradual over time so most driver's don't notice it. It is more aparent to those that work around the same make of cars and drive several cars with different amounts of clutch wear. There is a design that compensates for this, but it is not in very common use. I believe that it is used on some Ford light trucks.

So a new clutch almost always has a much lighter feel than a worn clutch. Could this be what you are experiencing?

SVTim: I had my clutch replaced last year, and I couldn't believe the difference in clutch pedal feel to the old one. I find the pedal a lot easier to depress than the old one too.

As far as your shifter problem, sounds like your shifter centering spring is disconnected from the shifter. it can be seen by pulling up on the shifter boot.

A new clutch has its pressure feel at the bottom of he travel and gets higher as it wears, having said that it sounds like he should bleed it at least...as to the shifter positions that sounds like he hasn't got the cables on correctly at the trans or one/two are out of wack on the bottom of the shifter or not routed correctly via the subframe...
