I agree that more power would certainly be appropriate considering how much the sub costs (might as well take advantage of it). Running less power will not hurt anything.

BS. The Lanzar Vibe 1200D is actually a proven performer and was one of the best deals available for a nice class D amp.

Yeah, I forgot about all those IASCA events that Lanzar has been sweeping lately....

Plain and simple you get what you pay for. Sure it might be the best $100 amp around but not sure if that says much or not.... Just doesn't make sense to have two nice 10W7s and junk amps pushing them, or at best underpowered amps.

You better put your suit on chief.
First, neither the jbl or lanzar amps mentioned would be underpowering those subs. People have raved about the jbl amps especially. Putting those subs in the right enclosure will be much more of a deciding factor in how they sound rather than the power that's fed to them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying put 25 watts to them but whether he puts 400 or 600 it's going to sound similar. I'll give you 2 perfect examples. 1) My friend used to have 2 12 in. jl w6's in a custom made bandpass box that fired up through his rear deck. He had a PPI A600 running the two subs and it was mind blowing. Amongst the best output I've heard from to 12's to this day. Well one day his A600 took a shat on him so he put in a A300 as a temp. replacement and We were both amazed that it sounded just as good. 2)Remembering this, I decided to purchace a A300.2 as my sub amp to power 2 jl 10w3's in a ported box. Picture below. Well this amp officially puts out 150 watts rms to each sub and let me tell you this shat pounds.

I just did a quick search and find any statement by me or anyone else that claimed that Lanzar dominates IASCA, USACi, MECA, SLAP or any other organization. For that matter, what single brand is dominating those organizations. (hint: none) I said they are proven performers because they are stable, fairly reliable, and put out rated power.

Let's make this very clear, in the world of car audio, you almost NEVER get what you pay for.

I agree that if you want to spend entirely too much money on W7s, logic says you should also spend too much on amps, as well. Your notion that the Lanzars and JBLs are underpowered makes you look foolish when bench tests have shown the opposite to be true.

Number of posts means jack. Point being, there are plenty of good quality amps these days without resorting to Boss/Profile/Lanzar junk- and it is junk. The JBLs are among the best bang for your buck around. Never debated that issue.

But if someone invests decent coin in a set of w7s, why would you short sheet yourself with a junk amp? Some of the better sysetms I've heard made good use of quality lower rated amps and subs. Looking back at the RF Punch 150s and Alpine 3554 we used back in the late '80s, these were all quality amps with great head room. Heck my first set of Orion XTRs only had a 'cheap' MTX-RT2100 pushing them at first and they slammed.

I've seen enough Lanzar amps bench tested that push less than 50% of the claimed power with 3% distortion as well. That's why you can buy that kind of junk at flea markets and on ebay so cheap- just buy two or three so when they smoke you'll have a spare handy.

Right now thezeb.com has an Orion XTR900.2 w/two RFHX2 12" subs for $599. You could easily sell off the subs and end up spending around $300 for one of the best amps every made. They've even got refurbed HiFonics XI-Zues amps for $349, that's over half off the cheapest I've ever seen this amp sell for. Not to mention the list of AudioBahn stuff on sale for under $300. Any of these amps flat clown that Lanzar stuff at any price.

Just too many deals on the net these days to even consider buying cheap amps, especially when you've got W7s to push.

I have to agree post count shouldn't mean much. What if Dave had just joined this site and had a 22 post count? You'd all be fools to ignore his advice based on Noob status.

That said...

Buy a 1200.1 or 600.1
