Hi

What is the normal amount of slack in the throttle cable ?? I'm asking as I think the amount of slack in my cable is too much (see 2nd photo)

Also, after a buddy of mine noticed that my gearshift was a bit notchy, I rooted around and noticed what appears to be a bent linkage !. (see 1st photo) The shift has always felt notchy but I thought it was a characteristic of the car.

I do not know how much slack there is suppose to be in the throttle cable but the adjustment is straight forward. The best way to check is put the pedal to the floor and see if the butterfly in the throttle body opens all the way. the adjustment procedture is differnt is you have traction control, it involves an extra step. There are two adjustemnt point if you have traction control.

I don't know about your shift linkage, but the throttle cable has too much slack. The cable should be adjusted so that when the butterfly is fully closed there should just be a couple of mm of slack (side deflection without moving the butterfly). Be absolutly sure that the throttle moves freely and shuts completly after adjustment.
I hate the feel of a loose, sloppy throttle.

Nope, I thought for a moment I had taken a photo of he wrong cable but it is the throttle cable.

My educated guess would say have someone step on the gas pedal (to the floor). If the TB is fully open, then the slack doesn't matter. If you can open the TB more, then something needs to be adjusted.

I can't tell from the tech CD, but you may be able to adjust the cable under the dash where the cable attaches to the accel. pedal arm. It looks like a nut that can be adjusted. I can't tell from the picture, though maybe someone else has done it.

EDIT: I looked at my car and there appears to be no adjustment...
