I was wondering if anyone has gone up against some of the newer model cars with more ponies.....like the stratus R/T or the tiburon GT etc etc and how the 'ol contour stacks up?

At the track....an SVT should take both with a good driver.

I've already left a Dodge Stratus R/T in the dust and I even gave him a substantial head start, I literally mean substantial, **at the line of course ** boi did I leave him for a rude awakening

Of course my SVT is not even close to what you would consider stock....so I can't really say how a stock one would fair though I don't think it should have any problems either...

I swear my svt has something wrong with it, but with decent driving i beat an r/t by half a car length. On a roll he would pull on me in 3rd gear . Although a near stock se did just about exactly the same.....

You are shifting ar redline right?

I beat a Tiburon by atleast 3 lengths at a track , although there timing system was down. And yes it was the 2.7L V6. , and that was with a totally stock SVT , and a new driver.

Yes, the new Tiburons are certainly quicker than the old ones, but once you get to 3rd you should really begin to distance yourself. I did in my 95 V6....but I've got a few mods

the Stratus R/T can't hang with an SVT. A friend of mine has one with i/e and we've run a few times at different speeds and it really hasn't been close. The guy that said one pulled him in 3rd gear, something must be wrong with your car. Thats where I pulled the most on his R/t, 3rd gear. We wont even get into the handling of those things.
