I have had my RS5's for almost a year now and I have had an ongoing problem . My studs keep breaking when I go to tighten the lug nuts. I have been torquing them to 85 lbs and I have torqued them to 90 in the past and they still want to back off (meaning getting loose) so when I go to torque them they turn a little bit then they break. Has anyone had a problem like this? I'm using the lugs they sent w/ the wheels. I have noticed after each lap or run they get loose and at first it was just the front and now the rear are doing the same thing as well . And yes the do have the hub setric rings on them.
Any suggestions or comments?

Sounds like you have crap lugs.

I have Gorilla lugs holding my 18" RS5's on.

Make sure when you put you wheels onb that the hub face it TOTALLY clean and free of rust buildup or anything that would make the surface unsmooth. If it isn't flat that could cause the wheel not to butt up flush when you tighten the lugs and then with the cornering and such, could cause the wheel to move and lose the preload on the lugs, causing them to loosen.

I have mine torqued to 80 ft-lbs and they're fine. Overtightening them cand warp you rotors too!

I would definitely look into replacing the nuts and see if that helps, as well as what I suggested.

In any case, I doubt it's the wheels.

I don't know about that... I threw some chrome American Racing wheels on my S10 that came off of a Toyonda thing. Wheel size was slightly off and I was consantly tightening them b/c of this. But I didn't care b/c I was RICING!!!
Always wondered what the difference the 4 x 100 and 4 x 108 mm bolt pattern would do on a 'tour...
