On my 1999 Mercury Mystique my dash had totally come unglued on the top (defroster) of the dash and i brought it to the ford dealership and they ordered me "the kit" and as i have read on this site, this is defenently not what i want. because it is much more than just the defrost and gauge cluster area but it is all over. including around airbag area (noticed while removed" and below by radio, and the fold by the steering wheel, also on the ends of the dash by the door hinges the long plastic plugs don't stay snapped in any more! if any one else can see the same damage i would like to hear because i am fighting ford now to gwt a "NEW" dash. it really sucks that there product failed but they should fix this for shure. I read that it may have been caused by incorrectly cured glue which would affect the whole dash cover assembly. please give me some more input even though this has been gone over in the past. my search returned not alot. thank you very much this pic shows the warp in my dash that "FIX" will not fix! ((click show pictore if not shown.)) my other dash pics

The dash warpage problem is diagnosed on a per-car, per-dealership basis. The kit means that the dealership didn't think the problem was enough to replace the enitre dashboard. You won't be able to get anything more out of them unless you call the CAC at 1800-392-FORD and report this as a problem in which you are not satisfied.
Some dealerships will take digital pictures of your dashboard and send them inter-company to a 'specialist' who looks at the pictures and applies a pass or fail grade to the condition.
Call the 800 number, and see what they recommend. You might have better luck taking it to another Ford (or lincoln-mercury) dealer in your area if your current dealership is not willing to cooperate.
Hope this helps.
Matt
PS- a dashboard replacement is a 9 hour job, and dealerships are probably sick of doing them. Also, I have heard that the entire dashboard replacement parts are backordered because of the amount of vehicles affected, both which may have contributed to you receiving the 'kit' instead of a new dash.

Hey sorry I missed your PM, I was enveloped in a re-run of 'the practice' I can't really tell by your pics, but when my dashboard started coming unglued, the piece around the glovebox was almost completely separated from the dash. Also check under the steering wheel housing. Of course, you *could* just start pulling it off the dashboard itself, just make sure that there's no backorder on the part before you endure 2 months of looking at an ugly dash! Matt

You sure it's a nine hour job???? I took mine in one morning and had it back that afternoon, about 7 hours later...It was better than the first time they replaced it...

The tech's get faster as they do more of them. The first one in our shop took about eight hours. Now it takes less than three hours.
