Hi,
My tour used to warm up when start from cold, it used to stay about 1000 to 1200 rpm in P when cold until it reached the normal temperature zone, when I put in D it still was about 1k rpm until normal temp,
Last night started from cold and it was as usually a 1200 rpm, but inmediatly put D and the the idle was a li'l crazy and almost stalled, it was from 1000 to 400 rpm then after 5 secs. or so it was as in 700 rpm (the normal idle) but the car still was cold,
it happened again this morning,
Any ideas?
BTW it has been raining

the IAC is probably starting to act up. You can try cleaning, but I reccomend replacement.

No throttle hang so i don't think it's the IAC,
My questions is:
is there a coolant sensor that indicates that the car is cold and other temperature sensor that says the PCM that the engine is warm?
(and of course the temperature sensor is bad)

Yes, there are air temp sensors and water temp sensors that tell the ECU when it's warm/cold vs the outside temps. That's not going to be your problem though I'll bet...

I agree with Gregg that it's your IAC. The IAC going bad or getting dirty doesn't always result in throttle hang. I just had to replace my IAC for the same reasons you're describing... stumbling idle, searching a bit while it's cold. I would have just cleaned it and reused it, but since I have 10 or so laying around, I thought what the heck...

Yes, it is in the back of the coolant distribution housing and is hard to get to without removing a lot of parts. But the guys are right, if you have a high cold idle it seems to be working. The IAC may be sticking. A little carb cleaner in the inlet hose is usualy enough, or you can take it off and clean it better.

My experience has been that cold idle fluxuations that are slow (5-15 seconds) and worse in gear are usually vacuum leaks. More than once I have seen the idle smooth out by pressing down on the upper intake manifold.
