I was thinking about getting some new cams for my 2.5, and I thought about SVTs cams. Questions: 1) Would SVT cams fit in my car? (see name for type of car) 2) How much HP would it add to my car? 3) Can I pick up some cams from somewhere if the SVT ones don't fit 4) Is it worth changing cams? 5) If I can change the cams and it's worth it which years would work if not all of them. 6) And has anyone tried this?

1) Yes 2) About +10 HP in the upper RPM band especially (per SVE). This is in the setting of Extrude Hone SVT head/intake manifold work. Gain with non-ported, non-SVT Duratec heads has not been determind to my knowledge. 3) No other cams avail just yet though a few people seem to be working on this 4) Worth is subjective....but IMO not worth it as a single mod due to high installation costs. As part of a 3L buildup or even a 2.5L buildup with ported heads..yes, unless even "better" cams become available (better is also subjective here, read cams that move the powerband even higher in the rev range). And, if somebody blows the motor and is just replacing it and a cheap set of SVT cams/heads are available from the classifieds/EBAY/etc...I say go for it. 5) will work for all year 2.5s (some 3L will not use SVT cams) 6) I do not think anyone has used just SVT cams on a non SVT 2.5. I think 1-2 have transplanted SVT heads to 2.5L, and several use SVT cams on 3L buildups.

I heard of some people haveing aftyermarket cams designed for there cars...but as of right now no one is producing them in good numbers for us to buy....SVT cams might be the way to go...but if you going to do that and have the engine open like that, mightbas well put the svt pistons and intake manifold too.....get the most out of your money and time for your car being down.

You don't have to tear down the engine to put in cams, just have to take off the valve covers and the valvetrain within (Along with various other hoses and stuff like the intake manifold). Not a job for amateurs, but does not require an engine teardown.
For anyone intersted I will have a set of SVT cams and heads available soon, shoot me an e-mail, britishbanger19@hotmail.com

I will be interested in purchasing these, but I have one more question.
Will these just drop into my car? Or will I have to buy something else like heads or valve covers (or something like that)to make these cams fit?

valve covers are the exact same. As people have mentioned you can buy the heads for more gains but it isnt neceassary, You can purchase and fit the svt cams with the stock heads and valve covers. hope i helped, Derek Johnson

Ok, I am looking at buying SVT cams and heads for around $325. Would this be to much or a good price? My friend and I should be able to do the installation for these, unless... Do you think it would be better for a pro to do it?
