Well, I use Redline SL1 additive in my gas tank.

Otherwise I would send the injectors to some pros at a diesel shop or something like that. Performance Diesel (IIRC) rebuilds 'em cheaper than you can purchase new ones. They will also blueprint them so that each injector pupms the same amount of fuel.

A good injector cleaner in the gas tank every 15,000 miles or so may do wonders to keep the injectors clean. I do mean a good injector cleaner because there are some real turkeys out there. My two favorite that are commonly available are Techron and Red Line. If the injectors are dirty enough to need deeper cleaning, most any shop that does tune type work has the equipment to clean the injectors. It intails disconnecting the fuel line and connecting equipment that feeds the fuel rail and injectors directly with a cleaner that is too strong to add to the tank. Prior to about 1992 the deeper cleaning was more critical, but since then car makers have switched to DRI (deposit resistant injectors) which are not as prone to clogging up. In an extreme case, or if you are building a high performance engine, you may need the services of a fuel shop to clean and "blue print" your injectors.

Oh wait! I forgot you have an SVT. I have a set of 19# injectors with about 30k on them that I can sell you for $100 + shipping.

Tranny Fluid is oil.... I wouldn't put it in a Fuel Injected car.

That said the rotary crowd (RX-2, RX-3, RX-7) will pour ATF down the Carb on a rotary engine that won't start.

Do it! It works! All fuel injector cleaner products you get off the shelf contains transmission fluid. Add about 12-16oz to a full tank, and let it work. Matter or fact, tranny fluid is part of the ingredients in octane booster. I've put it in my gas tank when my new engine had about 2k on it, and it seems to help clean up the injectors a bit.

I had some injectors cleaned recently. First of all they are hooked up to a fuel rail and pulsed with their individual flow rates and spray pattern checked. Then the tips are soaked in a special fluid and ultrasonically cleaned.

Apparently it's not a good idea to put the whole injectors into an ultrasonic bath as it can damage the injector windings.
