Hey guys, if any of you could help me figure out what's wrong with my car it would be greatly appreciated. Last night I was on my way home, driving at about 45mph, and when I hit the brakes to take a turn I heard a grinding sound, which got louder as I slowed. At first I thought this was just snow in my wheels, but the amount of noise was horrible, so I pulled over. The engine runs fine, but when I put it in gear it takes a second to catch, and then it'll drive okay, but when I hit the brakes again it grinds.... Could this be the transmission? The car has almost 100,000 miles on it, and I don't drive it too hard. I'm worried now, the shop dosn't open until mon so I'm out of a car till then. Looks like it's back to the '93 Escort Station Wagon for me...

Thanks guys
