i have a superchip - it works great for the tranny. holds longer before shifting, shifts a little faster, definately firmer shifts as well. higher redline never hurts especially with the atx... a superchip i'd say is a must for an atx minds as well get a tranny cooler as well and maybe even a shift kit from transgo to round out the package. thats how my car is set up and i have no complaints other then it being an atx hope this helps...

Thanx for the reply! What are the benefits of firmer shifts? Can that hurt your tranny?

everything he said is true. firmer shifts should be better for the atx. they're more natural, less stress on the bands. superchip is well worth the money and higher gas prices.

i was told once (not sure if its entirely true) but the firmer or faster the tranny shifts the better it is for it, long smooth shifts cause alot of extra wear and tear (heat) on the transmission.
firm and fast is the way to go I'd say

Yup, the less slippage the better.

Chips can do wonders if your vehicle is in proper condition and working order.
If your tranny is up to the task, a chip will help to shorten the shift times,
raise the internal oil pressure to decrease slippage,
and adjust the shift points so that they are more efficient.
The chip will also require the use of 91 octane fuels or HIGHER.
So no more 87 octane with chip.
I have a DiabloSport chip, and It will be in the car a year by this April.
I'm having my car inspected this week, so I've got to pull it,
but otherwise, it would stay there for good.
I can still use the OBD II scanner I bought from Alex Peper with it too, and it works seamlessly with our cars.

Why wouldn't the scanner work with the car (I am assuming you are referring with the chip in)?
