I just ordered the BAT intermediate tube, as it was cheaper than the Ford part, and installed the SVT airbox in my SE Tour; I realize that the IAT that originally resided in my airbox now goes into the SVT intermediate tube, but my sensor will never reach that far. What is the solution? Do SVT IAT sensors come with longer wires? Or is there a tube of some sort bridging the gap? Can any of you SVT folks here suppy me with a pic of your IAT sensor placement? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I thought that the IAT sensor obtains its readings through the differnece of electrical resistance (aka thermocouple). Wouldn't cutting the wires and lengtening them change the resistance and thus give me incorrect readings, or are these changes minimal/negligible?

when the length of wire changes the resistance probably less than 0.1 ohm, and the IAT deals in resistances in the hundreds to thousands, then it is negligeable. Otherwise as cars get older, corrosion/increased resistance would really screw up the sensor readings.

www.espdesign.co.uk

www.autotintdesign.com

www.demon-tweeks.co.uk

The above sell them. The added length of the wire is about 15CM-solder all the joints & heatshrink them & you won't have any problems I got some of the plastic conduit from a wrecked car and covered the wires in this-looks original & protects the wires
