Hello, I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust on my mystique, but I don't have a whole lot of money. I'm probably going to stay with the stock system and just get a performance muffler of some sort. What would be my best bet for a muffler? Again, I'm not looking to get a dual system, just the muffler. I'm probably looking mostly for sound improvent, as I won't kid myself with the performance gains staying with the otherwise stock exhaust. Thank you.

You can probably pick up a used SVT exhaust for under $100. Some guys even give them away. Stainless piping and mandrel bends, cant beat that!

You can get great gains by modifying the stock single exhaust and spend very little money by doing so.
Replace the resonator with a Dynomax perforated core racing muffler, or straight pipe if you want it really loud, then swap out the rear muffler for a 40 series Deltaflow Flowmaster muffler. Replace the stub of pipe from the collector pipe to the cat as it knecks down to 2" on the non-SVTs, which should be 2.25" instead. You can also modify your stock Y-pipe with a better merge collector and find a few HP.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions. Just a couple questions, where can I buy the dynomax and flowmaster mufflers, and how much (approx.) do they each cost? I went to the Dynomax website but wasn't sure which type of muffler you were talking about. Thanks!

I'd do summitracing.com, part number WLK-24211 for the resonator replacement (perforated core glasspack, 35" length to reduce drone as much as possible). Then use FLO-942443, or something similar depending on where you want your inlet/outlet for the tips.
