Could I buy a Yo-Dude Exhaust and add 2 Dynomax Bullet style mufflers in the back ? Also will Yodude sell just the piping without the mufflers ? If so how much would just the piping cost ? Thanks.

You probably could add two mufflers, though I don't think anyone has done it. I don't forsee huge problems, though. Josh @ yodude seems to be a pretty cool guy, so if I were you, I'd ask him if he'd sell you just the piping. Worth a shot. Why would you not want the middle muffler in there?

Im running two magnaflow straight through mufflers and they sound great. Only problem I see with two goo quality aftermarket mufflers is the weight. Twice the weight and each one weighs probably twice what a stock SVT muffler weighs.

I had dual mufflers on my tour and it was fine. I actually have them up for sell now but you would not want them because they are dual outlet

Would it be possible to have a custom exhaust made, but instead of going around the gas tank, have a straight pipe going right to the y-split ( going right over the gas tank ) wouldn't that increase exhaust velocity and add more power ? Also has this been done before ?

You wouldn't gain that much in gas velocity, but would still have to have some minor bends to angle down from the exhaust tunnel, and then back up to meet the Y, after which you'd be so low it would be a real possibilty of having that bad boy ripped off.

You wouldn't gain much velocity or have less energy lost??? How does removing 4 90 degree bends (I.E. pipe diameter loss even with mandrel bends) not help out. Duals that follow the stock routing would have 4 extra bends PER pipe.
You can run straight back without a problem. Even giving plenty of clearance for the thermoplastic fuel cell shield the exhaust would not hang lower then the SVT sideskirts. So if you hit the exhaust you have already crushed all four ground effects too!
I ran an F-body exhaust setup and straight back duals would give at least 1.5-2" more of ground clearance then that and I never grounded the muffler out with that setup.

How does fiberglass packing & 1 pass through tube weigh more then the same packing, metal baffles and 3 tubes?
The stock mufflers are like lead bricks!
Personally I picked out the small magnaflows (3x7 x 13) to save weight & space.

To answer your question: I am specifically referring to my two magnaflow 14" straight in/out 2.25"ID oval mufflers at the back weighing more than my two stock SVT mufflers. Other than the resonator, weight is definitely one good thing that the SVT catback has going for it. Raising the pipe diameter adds more metal. I'm not sure about other aftermarket quality mufflers, but my magnaflows are very dense...they must be packed quite well, whereas the factory mufflers are not quite twelve inches and are definitely lighter. I think I measured them at around 11-11.5 inches and they are not quite 2" ID, maybe 1 15/16". They are just heavier, I dont have exact figures and it isn't an absolute law.
Maybe we should check if there were muffler changes from 99 to 2000 because mine were definitely light.
