I got an Aiwa Mp3 deck around 3 years ago. I only got it, cause it was one of the first units available commercially for a decent price. And even though it's really old now, it was the best bang for the buck (at that time) for 299, but you can now get my same comparible unit for around $229 I think now. And they even sell less expensive units now as we speak. But to this day, I'm still happy with my Good 'ol AIWA deck. It DOES read song titles, and it uses a simple up/down rocker button for song selection, and a left/right rocker button for folder changing. Has everything I ever wanted to playback Mp3. Also has Aux. input jack in front (to plug in my laptop sound). Even got changer control if you want, but why would I need that, if I can make my custom discs that hold all my favorite songs right on one disc.

My thoughts exactly...the JVC KD-SH99 is great. Click here for some product specs. You'll see that the KD-SH99 is now the KD-SH909. It is pretty much the same thing with a new look. That may mean you could find a good deal on an "old" KD-SH99 somewhere (it looks exactly like the KD-SH55).

You can see a pretty crappy picture of it in the link in my signature (I need to take a better one sometime I guess).

You can always buy a Kenwood Deck, I have a higher end model, but they all should play MP3s, you will get the best sound for your money with Kenwood. They look pretty nice in a contour The model I have is the KDC-X659. It was the best they had out at the time, got it for $475 before tax, now its about $300, Kenwood also has a deck that is for about $150, that will also play MP3s.

In your opinion right?

Most decks in a given price range will all sound pretty much the same, you are really deciding based on features, style, ergonomics, and in some cases brand loyalty (I myself am partial to Alpine despite costing more than some decks in thier class). I think Kenwood makes very good equipment, in fact every bit as good as Alpine, JVC, Clarion, Sony, etc... but I would never buy a Kenwood HU for the simple fact that I absolutely HATE rocker swithes. When I first got my CDA-7838 back when I first got the Contour I was amazed at the difference a rotary knob makes when you are adjusting things. I showed my Dad and he laughed his ass off then pointed out the radio in his old Charger also had a volume knob. The knob has been here forever, why change that?

that is the only thing I wish I had on mine. they are kind ugly, but very useful. If I could have a knob I sure would.

I just barely got a Sony CDX-MP70 and I love it! ( I was a sucker for the different colored backgrounds to choose from and the turn knobs style. You know, when a good song comes on it's much better to have a knob rather then a button! lol)MP3 decks are great especially when it comes to 175+ track CD's! But I have had Kenwood Excelon series decks in the past and really liked them, but I tried Sony this time. IMO Kenwood Excelon decks, Sony or even Pioneer have always been great decks and car audio gear.

i got the Kenwood KDC-MPV7019. it plays mp3's and the LCD fades like 67 different colors. its not an Excelon series, but its a good HU. its retail for $300 but i got it for $230. this mp3/cd player is great. it blows my old sony HU away! and i LOVE the fading colors. its such a great look to it. check out the specs and a pic here Savinglots.com. heres some pics of it in action. not very good ones(i need a new digi cam), but this shows a few of the mad color shades u can either choose from or have it auto fade by itself.

u cant see what it says on the display cause its too bright for my cam to handle it. and the red buttons u can also change to green.(i think the red looks better) and it also has a theft protection code(I like it). if the power gets disconnected from the HU as asoon as the power comes back you are prompted for a password. (not sure if this is a common feture or not..) and I recomend checking out that Savinglots.com they have great prices.
