FYI, misfire is an emissions issue. Unburned fuel due to misfire = high hydrocarbon emissions. The high HC levels can cause catalyst damage as well.
Bad O2 sensors are definately an emissions issue as air/fuel control will be effected, thus emissions could increase.
I had performed a search on the forum here and the bad plug wires seemed the most common cause. Mine lasted 44,000 miles.
