Ok, this is everyones favorite game! Especially mine ....Ok heres the story, I got a CEL the other day p0171 (bank 1 too lean), in addition to this my car is extremely extremely SLOW (96 zetec mtx). Sometimes when the engine is cold I rev it up to about 5k rpms and then let it go and the engine just dies on me. I have 76k on the car, and the timing belt has not been replaced yet nor have the O2 sensors. Just some thoughts but what could have my car running so poorly?

IMO, replace... timing belt, fuel filter, clean injectors, and replace O2 sensors.

go ahead and get the pcv valve, plugs, plug wires while your at it. you're ready for a tune-up, check all your belts and pulleys, change tranny fluid and change coolant. if all of that and whay crzy said doesn't fix it, then could be something else.

Well since it's been three months and you have not fixed it yet:
The owner must be broken!
Don't you love your baby? Fix it!
Change the timing belt, and the tensioner! Don't do it yourself. Get someone who knows what they're doing!
Check the fuel pressure!
Make sure there are no vacuum or intake leaks!
Check the exhaust backpressure! If the cats plugged you are running out of milage!
Look, I don't mean to be harsh, but you either have to take the leap and learn how to do the work - or take it to someone who already knows. The car won't fix itself. It will only get worse. So far as I have read, you have changed the plug wires and cleaned the injectors. Get serious about it.
Good luck !, but, get going!

If you don't remember the name, look at the history.

Im extremely happy that someone remembered my previous cries for help about this. I am going to get the timing belt done within the week because I recieved a lot of Christmas money so I can take it somewhere. I figured if I just let my problem run out then whatever is wrong with it would break completely and then I would know for sure what it is. I sure hope my PCV valve is good because me and my father tried changing it one time and to make a long story short we stripped the bolt that connects the tube containing the valve to the engine block. So the PCV valve is stuck there forever unless someone can remove a sripped torx screw

Goto your local Sears, in the tool department, ask for the Craftsman Screw-Out Damaged Screw Remover. They are screwdriver bits you can use to remove stripped screws. That maybe your only hope, although I have heard good things about them. I would guess they cost around $10.

One more thing to always try when you get a "too lean" code is cleaning the MAF.
