OK, tomorrow I pick up my new Alpine CDM-7874 and I was wondering on how hard it would be to install. I've installed car stereos many times and I was wondering if this would be any different. I downloaded the owners manual for it, and it says that I need to screw the ground wire for it to a chassis ground, what I'm wondering is, couldn't I just use the car's factory ground wire in the wiring harness? Do I need to screw it to a chassis ground? Aside from that, it looks no different from the other stereos I have installed. Thanks...

I installed my friend's Sony deck a few weeks ago, it had a spade connector thing for the ground, but I just cut that off and spliced it into the wiring harness we got for his car and it worked fine.

Ya i have the CDA 7894 and it had the same thing and i cut it off. Mine also has the 60*4 and says your suppose to hook the 10 guage power wire coming out of the deck directly to the battery. I don't know if yours has that or not?

Got it today from Team Electronics, $201 tax included Installed it in a few minutes, now only if the car wasn't being such a POS now, I love the stereo, BTW

Is it just me, or does this make no sense? Why in the heck wouldn't he put the stereo into the TA? Hmmm...

Those wire harnesses are Gods gift to Contours. I used one in my Tour and it took me less than 10 minutes to install my Kenwood.

Why didn't you install the 7874 in the WS6? I figure any time it isn't snowing you'll have that thing out so why bother putting it in the mystique. You can pull that Monsoon POS out of the Pontiac and put it in the Mystque, then concentrate on making a good system in the Pontiac based around your new HU. Unless you... like... the Monsoon's "sound quality"

I put it in the Mystique because 1) It's still the main car I use because of the snow and 2) it's nearly impossible to get a new stereo in the WS6 because of how the stereo controls nearly everything through it, and yes, compared to the Mystique, the Monsoon system is very good, no more 20watt speakers
