Not a great idea to start modding with. Concentrate on the basics first...y pipe, exhaust, open element air filter.

While I agree with Konto, to answer your question....from what i remember and have heard, the best 2 options are SVT tb and the 4.6 stang tb, though I believe that one requires some modification to work, and possibly some help in the air/fuel regulation dept. Hopefully someone with more expertise than me will chime in to comfirm or deny this. Basic concensus seems to be that our cars don't benefit from bigger tb's as readily as a lot of other cars seem to. Hope that helps.

Actually, the SVT TB is a great first mod to a stock Contour SE. Throttle response was greatly improved, as was just about everything on the top end too. Of course I optimized mine before it went on, but it was my first "mod wave" along with the KKM. Since I took the KKM off a couple of times try to cure a MIL I was having at the time, I got plenty of time driving around with only the TB in place on an otherwise stock SE. It was my favorite of all of the mods I've done, even since then, because it simply transformed the car...

I'll tell you what, a 65mm TB is good, but not the best right off the bat. The SVT one is the best option. I have had a 65mm for about 1 1/2 months, and it has way too much throttle responce (compaired to the stock one) and takes a little getting use to. I had to buy and extra throttle spring to help me out. It gives pretty good increase in top end, but not an extreme amount, but the low end is increased pretty well.

Oh yea BTW, get ready to drop 2mpg in gas milage...I'm running 17.5

Placebo effect!!! I know. I thought the same thing until I actually tested it.

The 65mm has shown to lose power on even moderately modified SVT's. It will most definitely lose power and any non-SVT.

Upgrading to an optimized 60mm TB is the best choice.

I would assume it is kinda like flooding the engine, is that correct?

Not really flooding... But you do start to lose intake air velocity and that can cause some minor problems. The ECU should know that more air is comming in and adjust the mixture accordingly... unless, of course, you have exeeded the parameters of the ECU.....

IMHO when it comes to the intake side, SVT got it right. The SVT TB (IIRC from a 3.0L Duratec) is about as big as you want to go unless you have some really heavy mods going on.
