I've heard that you can stick a little needle into the nozzle on the hood and direct it where you want to spray. I didnt do it to my car but dealers usually do it for free, like where i go.

Actually alex_96gl, the needle thing did the trick pretty well. Do you work for Ford?

Ouch...I'm feeling no love here.

jmatzick, I'm not working for ford... if you were able to do it w/ a needle more power to you.

on both 'tours I own the nozzles can't be adjusted. this topic was rehashed on the mailing list several moons back and the agreement was that it can't be done. I also know it can be done on cougar, but I never bothered to compare nozzles on those. It's posiible that ford changed something for your model year or whatever.

did I mention that I don't work for ford?

did I mention that many people on this forum whose opinion I respect work or used to work for ford? if that compromises whatever I'm saying in your eyes that's your personal problem, not mine. have a nice day

FWIW, my nozzles have squarish openings and can't be adjusted either. Same on my former Sable (1994) and same on my recently sold 1996 Escort. My 1989 Toyota pickup had those little ball jointed nozzles that could be adjusted. I didn't think Ford used that type of nozzle. IIRC, ford square opening uses some fluid dynamics that, if you watched the spray in slow motion, the spray would be in a figure eight pattern. I guess you could clean them with a needle but they are not directional in a classic sense. :p

PS: I do not or have ever worked for Ford, but what would that have to do with the price of bananas anyway. And a Ford employee would likely have the right answer (Though maybe not a Ford Dealer wink )

I do work for Ford and I believe that the nozzle design on our Contours really sucks. How is that for unbiased? wink When I'm a a stop, the spray shoots up over my roof. When I'm at highway speeds, it doesn't make it to the windshield. If I could adjust them, what would I do? confused

I liked my 92 Tracer (granted, really a Mazda, not a Ford) much better WRT spray nozzle and wiper controls/operation. I liked that those two little ewoks could shoot fluid out of their eyes eek at two small targets on the windshield (the wipers did just fine distributing the fluid to all the spots that needed cleaning). I also liked that I could get the wipers to sweep on demand without turning off the intermittent setting.

My apologies to those I offended including you Alex. Mine too were shooting over the roof so by sticking a needle in the hole they now spray much better on the windshield. Maybe I just got lucky.
