Just bought my 95 SE ATX. Can't get the ashtray out to empty it. Was there a smaller tray inside the main ashtray? Manual says just lift out main ashtray. GETTIN ON MY NERVES. I know, minor problem, but gotta be minor solution too. Thanks.

Go to a local car wash and vacuum those ashes out! Then figure out what's going on.

Took it to the wash and vacuumed all the stuff out. Took it to car parts and the guy figured it out. I know it was stupid problem but what do you want from a girl? Thanks for the feedback. I do love drivin the car.

Does it come come loose at all? I have to move the shift lever from P so that it can be fully removed.

That is the only way I was able to get mine out too....I figured this out. I had to take the car out of Park to get it out. All I had to do is just pull on it and whamo....came out. I hate trying to clean it...whata pain in the arse....

Simple solution: Don't smoke! :p

on my 95 mystique, the ash tray was one of those where you push on it and it opens up. All you had to do was open it up, and yank the whole thing out/up. Came out as one piece. It was never used though. Oddly enough, the SVT came equipped with the "smokers package" and doesn't have one single ashtray...go figure.. :rolleyes:

The "smoker's package" consisted of: 1 cigarette lighter and 1 cup with a lid that fit in the cup holder.

My lighter is somewhere in the glovebox and the cup holds quarters for carwashes just fine...

I'm sorry but....that is the crazyest thing I have heard in a while....all you need to do (future ref.) is to open the spring loaded door.... grab it....pull with an upward motion....Done!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty simple...hardly a pain in tha arse!

I -somehow- had mine pop out one night when I was displaying excessive amounts of acceleration (I wasn't racing, I promise! :rolleyes: ). That was a mess. The car shifts, I hear it, it hits the center console, falls on my floor and rolls under the seat. The heater was on so of course it dumped all the ashes by the rear floor vent.

It now gets emptied OFTEN! It had never popped out again though.
