I currently run 215/40/17 BFG Euro T/A (which, admittedly, are not a great tire) for the street, and use my 225/50/15 RA1 for autocross (an awesome tire). Before I buy my next set of 17s, I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the 235/40/17 (typical size in RA1)? Do they clear? Non-lowered car here, so that won't be an issue. I really don't want to stay with the 215 size as I am too used to the 225s and would hate to go backwards on footprint.
Thoughts?
PS (225/50/15 actually used initially on the autocross 3.0L Tempo 5spd. What a hoot. 138hp/156ft-lb at the wheels and only 2700lb).

I use 235/40/17 Kumho 712's on a 42mm offset 17x7 rim. No rubbing, but the rear fenderwell had to have major rolling/removal of the lip and rear bumper mount tabs to clear. Still get very minor romp sound from rubbing the plastic liner near the outer edge, but it's getting better as the plastic wears on through. This was before and after running stock suspension and now with Roush springs with the same rims/tires...

Kumho 712's suck!
