I have noticed i have an antifreeze leak, it isnt from the head gasket, so i am guessing it to be a bad water pump. Contours are notorius for having faulty h20 pumps, am i correct? The leak is between to pieces of joined metal, maybe a bad gasket. It is near the front of the engine, on the ground side. Anyone have any ideas.

bad water pump will cause over heating (mainly V6s have h2o pump trouble). put some coolant stop leak in, it's always worth a try and will often fix minor leaks.

hey Zeteched, i've got a 95 v6 and been through a water pump already. The factory impellars are made of crappy plastic. mine imploded and damned near overheated to death. Right now it uses about a quart of h2o every month or two. You could check out the hoses at the inlet/outlet sides for a leak too, although mine was leaking from there before. Also your right about the "joined Metal" pieces if you mean the water pump itself. That's how i found mine was going bad before it exploded. That's the gasket if it's the same as a v6.

It might be from your W/P. Possibly from the gasket or the lower radiator hose, etc.

At least some kinds of coolant stop-leak will wear out the bearing in your water pump.
