It is fuse #9 and it is for the EEC module. The wiring so far looks to be fine but it is hard to check it as you can imagine.

Very common in Europe on the Mondy. Details on what to check for on my web site
Basically check all the wiring near the Coil (and under it), melts through and shorts

Soon as the rain stops (if it ever does)I am out to investigate. THANKS for the tip.
I work on construction equipment and on them we have ECM's (electronic control modules) and if there is a short in the circuit that it is involved with it will throw a code stating there is a short. Is this true for FORD products. If it is a short in the wiring whould there be a code?

There is a recall (TSB 99M03) on the Under Hood Wire Harness. Check it out it could be the cause of your problem and could also be the answer to your prayers.

Thanks for the heads-up on the harness. I called Ford and they said the recall stopped in 97. Mine is a 98. I looked at the build date and it was 7/97. They gave me the harness number F6RZ-14K289S4TC and I tried to find it under the hood but of course I cant. Something sounds fishy here and I bet I get the Sh*** end of the stick. What do you think the odds are if I take to Ford and it is the recall harness they let me know? The plot thickens.
