I've got a '95 2.5L V6 with 70K miles...have enjoyed it very much till lately. Had to have transmission replaced last month($2600 but Ford paid half because it was under 75K miles)...I need to have the idle air control valve replaced (because it has that moosing/stalling problem at low RPMs after the car has run for a bit...a REAL problem in rush hour traffic)...the engine light came on last week...Ford diagnosed vacuum hose leaks and fixed it (said it was covered by a warranty ?!) but still had a $100 deductible. But I also have a sound coming from the right front wheel well that sounds intermittently like the tire is rubbing against something (which it is not...did have that checked). It is very noticeable in long turns, like off of an interstate cloverleaf. Might it be the macpherson strut? or engine mount? or carriage spring? I can't reproduce the sound by pushing down on that corner of the hood while the car is stationary. Any thoughts?

Sounds a lot like the sway bar is rubbing the subframe or the control arm.

I have had mine rub the subframe. Turn your tires one way (to full lock). Go up front and look into the back of the front wheelwell, towards the engine. Find the sway bar, rub your hands along it and see if it is touching. If it is, pull hard. If that side is fine, check the other. smile

The strut won't really make a noise, unless all of the parts for the valving have fallen off. You would hear the strut rod rubbing, but you wouldn't be able to drive either.

An engine mount will produce more of a thump. My brother has that problem in his car now.

Check the recalls, because I know there was something about the front suspension clunk awhile back.
