Where can I find out more about the shift chip. My 95 v6 is all screwed up. It has always jurked when I changes gears and I know they have a fix for this because it's in the codes but the dealers around here won't help me with it.

well do you want a chip or a shift kit? both will sorta help, though a chip makes it sorta jerk, but a good jerk not the hurtful kind and it's really fast. and use 93 octane gas. go to www.performancefords.com for best price on a new superchip (the prefered chip of most contour owners).

On the 95, there are MANY changes to the ATX (CD4E).
Most of them were updates to solve various problems.

To get the MOST out of your tranny, I would suggest that you have it rebuilt and brought up to date.
For the money, a Level Ten would be a good choice.

Then you could go with a chip to supplement the Level Ten modifications.

a customed program chip would definitely be needed with a level ten tranny (unless level ten supplies a chip/moddified pcm) i would buy a rebuilt tranny and not have my tranny rebuilt if it's an earlier model (especially 95), there is a parts change in one of the sensors, and if the new sensor is used on a 95, then it can cause bad shifting under certain conditions and will pop a CEL.

For the price they charge to build up the tranny, I would think it would be part of the deal.
Its the least they could do

Have you changed your fluid. Sometimes a simple fluid change will do wonders on your trans. I learned that on my old Topaz

just got my paycheck, gonna go buy 12qts of mobil1 atf and some more mobil1 5w-30 (wally world stopped selling the 5qt jugs , anybody know where to get these, i don't wanna spend $10 more for another quart.) i'm 100miles overdue on the oil, and probably 30k-50k miles over on the ATF (unless previous owner changed it).
