Ok...I can't get a straight answer from anyone, not even the Motorcraft website.

I ordered "double platinum" motorcraft plugs for my '98 SVT.

I got AGSF32FM....instead of what I expected to get (which would have been AGSF32PP).

I think what I got is a single platinum. Should I use them?

What you got was the replacement SP that Ford is recommending for all its 2.5 cars. Either will work, though the AGSF32pp is the original and recommended by this site. I however recommend NGKs...

Double Plat is not magic...it won't make your car run any better..just longer, due to the firing method or the rear bank cylinders IIRC. But to answer you...I'm not sure. I would think so as Ford has replaced that part # in all their service manuals, CDs, and related parts references.

I had the same question and what i learned was.... Plugs worked fine and when you remove the old ones you will see that they are the same.

Do the wire while you are there

You can also buy Autolite APP764 plugs, which are the exact same plugs as Motorcraft. I installed these when I had some stumbling problems on the freeway and they cleared it all up.

Incorrect!

AWSF32PP or Autolite APP764 are recommended by this site. (AWSF32PP or AWSF32F are original depending on year - another Ford decontenting IMO! )

AGSF style plugs have a slightly longer end that sticks into the chamber a bit more. They dealership will try to sell you these for any Duratec even though they have only superceded the 3L Duratec (all years) and are stock in 01 & newer 2.5L Duratecs.

While I will gladly state NGK makes excellent plugs they sadly do not make any double platinum plugs for the Duratec. Expect to change them 2 maybe 3 times as often as the listed double platinum plugs. More often yet if you are chipped!

Yes, it's time to change 'em. Go with the Ford Motorsports wires. They're a 9mm wire, a bit thicker than stock so the stock wiring guides don't fit correctly (at least for me) but you can dremel them down if you wish (the guides that is, not the wires)

You can get them from http://www.batinc.net/contour.htm or by calling Bill Jenkins. I have dealt with both a couple of times. Both are good but try to support Bill as he gives a discount to CEGers.
