Fired her up last night with chip in place and it fired off like any normal SC 3L Buckshot77 and Brad will be doing some OBD2 scans this week to check the spark advance, but for now everything is in and works great! Finally after 2 months and lots of pain this animal is done! Next step is break her in right and change the oil and trans fluid at 500 miles and schedule a dyno tune! Woo hoo!!!!!

This AM she is down again... No fuel pressure, suspect Walbro fuel pump installation... Hopefully, it's an easy fix as I think the oil leaks are finally figured out, and the chip at least runs this time... Pics and video later this week if we get it done in time for me to drive her to work.

I'm about 90% sure its that peice of non-fuel pressure hose on the relief valve of the fuel pump housing that gave out. Once we replace with fuel hose, I bet we'll have it. If that's the case its a 10 min fix. If this is the major part of the bugs I'll be happy!

Boy, the hastles you guys go through, I was going to SC a 3.5L, but it sounds like I'll need A LOT of patience and a shop with the know how. . .I must've been a fool to think Vortech could've walked me through a 3.5L conversion. . .I wished I live closer to you guys, with all the bumps and hurdles you've gone through, experience=knowledge. . .glad to hear it's all up and working!

why do you need a 'conversion'? Everything bolts up the same if you do the 'hybrid' just lower the c/r.....and custom tuning...... Yeah we could perfect another SC 3L fairly easily now that we went through this one. This is truly a minor set-back, it can be fixed in 20 mins tops. I was more concerned about the chip, injectors, and MAF all getting along, and they work perfectly. Its going to be worth it for sure when she's done!

Rick and you guys may get the chance with mine come Summer... I've e-mailed Rick about this route, but I'm going to build up the transmission on mine before ANY engine work is done. I'm really interested in your thoughts and impressions on this setup. Once tuned, it sounds like it's going to run like a raped ape.

1. Why? With the amount of material taken out the cylinder walls are going to be very thin and also the loss of material will cause the engine to run hotter since there is less natural "heatsink" to pull heat out of the cylinders.
Personally I would not build a 3.5L at all much less into either a Forced Induction engine or high rpm engine!
Another thing to think about is that if they don't use a custom forged crank (HIGH $$$) and machine the stock one enough to increase the stroke enough to make 3.5L it will significantly weaken the stock crank! Another no no for F/I & high rpm!
2. That's a given for any custom job such as that!
