Has anyone installed an electric water pump for the 2.5L, if so what make pump, model etc.
My current 6K pump is new and was replaced by the prev owner. The " new " pump scares me from all I have heard on this site.
If I install an electric can I reroute the drive belt away from the pully and just let the plastic/paper impeller just sit there to rot? Would this cause a restriction in flow to the electric unit?
Any help on this issue would be appreciated.
The car is not a SVT, but a leather loaded to the 9's LX roof etc. It just happens to be a Grandpa driven mint car with 70K on it. By the way I am a Grandpa To!! 50 years young.
I plan to deepen the oil pan, extend the pick-up, install a "real " temp gauge direct to the motor, and spray a little NOS into so I can look at 5.0 guys in my mirror. It will not be my daily driver, and not really an all out race machine, I have a 95 Grand Jeep as my daily. For a street machine I have a 68 Nova SS 355CID, 4 speed pushing 375HP, rubber in all 4 gears at will ( healthy chirp in 4th). If you have ever studied the early muscle cars, the Nova SS 350 bucket 4 speed came from the factory at 3,120 LBS, about the same as the TOUR, but 205HP more. It was the second lightest producton muscle car ever made next to the 57 283 Corvette at 2,995 LBS
With the Tour, I want the 5.0 guys to pay a little respect to what was one of the best little sport cars that Ford ever made. I have owned the car for two weeks, detailed it, tinted the glass and just started this project. I paid $5,000.00 USD for the car and plan on spending about $2K for some of these " upgrades ".
If anyone has suggestions on the oil / NOS upgrades, please share the wealth. I will return the favor as this project developes.
