I took my car to the Ford Dealer for a CEL problem (warranty-emission work) and told them to go ahead and change the atx transaxle fluid. I picked it up and noticed on the ticket they used 12 quarts Motorcraft 5W/30. Weren't they supposed to use Mercon or something like that? Should I freak out and have them change it again? By the way, my independent mechanic put in the NAPA waterpump today-thanks to y'alls posts I'm avoiding the exploding plastic impellar adventures I read about. Thanks! smile

That must be a typo? definitely have them check it though and if any doubt change it immediately. 12 quarts of ATX fluid is about right for a good flush & fill on the ATX

If the fluid is red, it should be the right fluid. Though there's no way to tell if that's Mercon III

Right, it was a typo. The serviced manager said he punched in the code for the 5W30 oil instead of the tranny fluid. He said no way would one of his mechanics put motor oil into a tranny. Guess I'm paranoid...but I love my baby. Incidentally, it's running even cooler than before since the WP change...used to be between N and O; now is on the N or to the left a little bit. Love you guys, thanks for all your help. smile
