Ok I need to get a new box for my sub the one I hae isnt working out. So I was thinking about building a custom box that would match up with the hole that is in the rear deck where a speaker could fit(my backseat dont fold down)well I want the box to have like 2 chambers one would act as the box and the other would form the seal to the hole so all the air would move into the car. My other idea would be to have someone build a infinte baffle box that would have the port going through the hole. Hmmmm welp thats my thoughts tell me what ya think.

What don't you like about how it sounds now? Boomy? Sloppy? Peaky? If you don't like how it sounds, why not try a sealed box? They are easy to build and take up less space. They generally match the cabin gain in a car very well. Looking at the graphs, you will be excursion limited with 200w (I don't know how much you are giving it) at 60Hz and lower for a ported box with close to the recommended size. For sealed, you'll be at the excuursion limits from 47Hz on down, but over with the gains in a car. I'd try to find a new driver if you are having problems at higher listening level.

Page 7

4-ohms nominal
Fs 28Hz
Qts 0.472
VAS 86.4L
xMax 13mm

That's about all I get and I estimated the rest.

ok the prob with the box i have now is it pops the air pops out the ports because its trying to suck in alot of air but cant before the bass hits again so its goes pop pop pop you dont notice it in the car because the trunk is so dead and it doesnt like to transfer any of the base into the cabin of the car. And I was running it at 200W but it hardly even hit at all in the box it just didnt work so I am running it prolly closer to 400W now and it pops all the way through the power range just puff puff puff out the port holes and i do want a sealed box but I want to have it rigid so that it moves more air into the cabin of the car. But oh well jsut installed one of my components speakers from my old car. Sounds better than what both front speakers sounded togeather but holy [censored] its a pain to rip apart that front door. its funny how I sorta made the 5.25" sub fit in that hole haha I dont like to spend more money than I have to oh well cya
