I heard some were that removing the resonator on a svt makes the car sound a little bit better and adds a little more power is this tru to the guys that have done it I don't want a loud exhaust system am going to remove the resonator and that funny looking 180 degree bend under the motor am I looking at any power gains and maybe a better sounding exhaust.

You may get yelled at for not looking through the forums on this subject. I did. I went to have my resonator cut off and the garage wont do it??? I asked why and they said they were not allowed to remove any part of an exhaust that will make the car louder. Whatever. But I need to find some place to do it. I live in Plymouth, Wi so if any one that lives, say, in a 60 mile area and knows of a place I can take my car, let me know.

they can make it louder, does noone in your town have an aftermarket muffler? they just can't touch the catatlytic converter (legally atleast).

Go for it, it drones a bit but sounds a ton better, as far as gains go they are probably there but the butt dyno can't measure any.

Drone, rasp and louder.
Try a resonator of some kind to free up the exhaust while keeping drone, rasp and sound levels down a little.
Magnaflow, Dynomax and Edelbrock seem to be most popular.

Drone- You will hear a lot more noise inside the car and it gets anoying after a while, not a good thing. Rasp- Outside exhuats note sounds like crap.

Well it really depends on the person. I for one didnt like it got anoying after a while. Some people dont mind it. I see you have an Svt, this is what i would do. I would chop off the rear mufflers and put some str8 pipes with some nice tips on. This is will add some power and keep the interior sound down. If you do decide to take the res off keep the stocker just in case. Hope this helps.

This is a "must do" mod if your not doing an exhaust system right away. I paid $50.00 to have the local exhaust shop remove it and put in a straight pipe. The rasp is only there when you first start up the car and then it goes away. The sound isn't all the annoying, well to me it wasn't. You'll be used to it in no time and then thinking about getting true duals. Also FYI, removing the resonater DOES NOT improve the performance, thats all in your head because of the added sound, sorry
