Ok, most of the time this occurs when it is really cold outside. For some reason my cd player won't read cd's. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems to work just fine once it is warm.

Haven't had the problem myself, but I have heard of it. Then again, I didn't keep my stock HU long enough for it to see cold weather. I recommend a new HU. You can get one that is light-years better than stock for well under $200. If you do, be sure to bypass the 'premium' amp, if you have the 'premium' sound package, or you'll loose out on at least half the benefit.

Do you keep your cd's in the car, or in the house?

If the car's still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, take it to the dealer.

Yep. I have had that problem, actually I am on my third unit. First time is stopped giving me back my CDs then the second one worked for about a week and then gave me error messages and now this one sometimes doesnt play my CD. Out of warranty now so eventually I will have it replaced.

Yeah, I keep them in the car. It usually helps when the car is warmed up and I hold the cd I want to play by the vent blasting out hot air to heat the cd up  . I shouldn't have to do this though, I'll get it replaced frown

Nice to talk to you again, thanks for looking at that car for me down there, obviously I bought a different one.

Qbert -- when my father had my car, he had the same problem. Ford eventually replaced it because the seals suck on it. My advice? Get an aftermarket one. If you're interested, I'm selling my old one on eBay along with the amp, it is only a year old.

It ends soon!

The eye of the cd player and/or the CD have fog on them caused by condensation of water in the air because of the cold. Mine used to do this all the time.

Best suggestion is turn your dash vents on high hot for a bit, it will warm up the cd unit sometimes, enough to get past this issue.

I worked in a stereo shop for many years and saw many people in shock that their new $600+ cd deck they just bought for Christmas worked for a bit then errored every day when the car sat for hours cold.

As always, this is just my two pennies.
