I'm an old man so don't bash my system. I just installed a Kenwwod MP3 deck from Crutchfield. I did the soldering inside so I can actually say that the in car install took only 15 minutes. I bypassed the factory amp with their wonderfull install kit and as usual their service and kits were top notch. (Ordered Thanksgiving night, at my door Monday morning.)There is great sound improvement which I won't deal with as it has been discussed many times on this board. The unit feeds Pioneer 6X8's in all four doors. However the fun thing is the MP3 ability. I put my Sony RF changer up for sale yesterday. I don't need it anymore. I burned 2 CD's both with over 100 songs on them and after some tweaking of NERO , they play perfectly. the kenwood shows all ID3 tag info and also folder info. Just as a note , I had to set Nero to Disk at once and burn at 16X instead of 40X to get a perfect CD. My first attempts skipped on some songs. I got good advice from this board and also highwaymp3.com. A couple of Negatives... The display washes out in sunlight, Remote is kind of big for a car unit. Positives... Fast MP3 access time, Blinking light when faceplate is removed, Resumes play where you left off, Good basic EQ. In conclusion, Like many I passed on the first generation of these players. They now seem to have gotten it right. I also liked the Alpine $$$, Panasonic ansd Clarion but the Kenwood is a deal at Crutchfireld right now. Take care.

Interesting. I passed on the 1st generation, and never really gave it another thought.
Do you ever listen to an entire cd when you have that many tracks? I guess you can just hit shuffle and forget about it for a month or so, right?
How's the sound quality and imaging?

Yeah I love hte whole mp3 deal. I have a JVC digifine KD-SH99 mmmmmmmmm I know I like dumped all the music on both my familys comps onto 2 discs and was like wow haha, but now i jsut listen to the radio I need new music. Another feature I like isthe folder setup so that its like a cd changer sort of but better cause instead of having a whole bunch of cds stashed somewhere to swap into the changer I just have a thing of cds that i can chose from its wonderful. any who enjoy the technology bye

I put music in directories. I now carry 4 CD's in the car. Greatest hits (7 Greatest hits CD's from Joel to Counting Crows) Mix CD ( New Rock , Old Rock , Oldies-DooWop, POP, Country) Jazz CD and Light Classical (Bocelli, 3 Tenors)
The unit sounds great to me. Bass on the 4 Kenwood 6X8's is tight. Highs were a little shrill for my ears but I went about -4 on the treble and it fixed it up. Not to start a war but I only lisitin to music while driving so I'm not real fussy about imaging and such. (Now home is a different story!) My Mercury Mystique is a great car but not the quietest in the world. As an example I made some MP3's at 192BMPS and went right back to 128. I'd rather have the extra space. I can tell the difference between a CD and an MP3 even with my old ears but who cares. Radar Love sounds great cruising down route 1 to Rehoboth! Take Care.

When you name the folders on the CD-R/RW that you burn, do those names show up on your MP819? I have the KDC-MPV619 and I've tried burning my CDs with folders either named by artist or by album. In either case, it will not display the name of the folder. It just has generic name (folder01, folder02, etc.). Also, if I name the folders by the artist name, some folders won't even be displayed and consequently played on the player. What am I doing wrong here? I believe I am following the naming conventions and I'm using Musicmatch to create my CDs.

I have the display setup to show the artist and title. I only see what I think is the folder name as I scroll through them and they still only show up as folder01, folder02, etc.
