OK, since 215/50ZR-16's are impossible to come by, what size summer tire should I get? I used the Miata tire calculator (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) and 205/55-16 or 225/45-16 are the closest that I came across. Does anyone here use either of these sizes? I am leaning more towards the 205/55-16. I know some people use 225/55-16 but I am really concerned with rubbing.
If I go with the 205/55-16 the choices on TireRack are: Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Dunlop SP Sport 9000 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Pirelli PZero System Direzionale Pirelli PZero Nero
I plan on doing a bunch of research into this, but which tire would you recommend? Thanks.

Potenza S-03's......You won't be disappointed! Unless you use them all season. But in the rain and in the dry, they cannot be beat!

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 in 225/50R16. The rubbing most people get with that size is because of the diameter being larger, not the width. 205/55 = 225/50 in diameter.

I'm running Bridgestone S-03's in the 225/50/16 flavor on 16"x7" wheels. Can't say enough about the tire (or the wheel, but that's another topic). Best tires I've ever owned. No rubbing and I've hit it pretty hard on curves and bumps a few times. I'm also lowered, if that helps make up your mind.

KDW's or S-03's - Nothing else really compares.
I recommend a 225/50 size. Any wider and you may have rubbing issues (strut & liner) Also mounting them may pose a problem as the 225/50's are a tough mounting job.
Do not step backwards in handling to a 205/55

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

OK, you guys convinced me...225/50-16 is the way I'm going to go. Most likely the Potenza S-03's too. Has anyone tried the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3? They seem appealing to me as well. Anyone have any problems with these?

The Eagle F1 I think came on the 98 SVT's and people seemed to like them. I know one person personally with those tires (17, though) on his SVT and he didn't expect much mileage out of them, 15k or so. He got twice that on the KDWs.
IMO, you really can't go wrong with the S-03. I have yet to hear anyone copmplain about them in any way but price. But if you want to be different, the F1 looks cool and will handle very well in rain and dry.
