Hi guys, I wonder if anyone would know what would cause this. When I start the car and let it idle, the rpm's drop down to about 250, (no I don't mean 2500) it almost stalls out, and then it jumps up to about 2200 rpms. Then it slowly falls back down again, and starts the whole process over again. It seems to only do it when it's real cold, but sometimes it does it, and sometimes it doesn't. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

How many miles are on your car? Could be the fuel injectors. Mine does the same. Adding fuel injector cleaner to an empty tank and driving it helps.

My 95 did that last February. IAC (idle air control) was replaced and idle learning redone.Symptons returned last month. IAC was replaced under warranty (12 months/20000 kms)
but problem was not fixed. Upper intake gaskets , (2 @ $$14.99 CDN and 1 hour labour)were the culprits and she runs fine now at 214000 kms (128400 miles)
I had tried fuel injector cleaner, but symptons returned after half after running half a tank of gas.

I put some fuel injector cleaner in, and it hasn't done it since. If it returns, I will keep the intake gaskets in mind. Cheap thing that wouldn't hurt at 160,000 miles anyhow. Thanks for the info guys!!
