tbunder, I had those tires on my 95 Tour and never noticed any appreciable increase in noise over the oe Firecraps. And yes, I am the kind of guy to notice noises.
Bearing problems? Wouldn't surprise me. Tours and there Ford/Mercury ilk are known for short bearing life. My 95 had a front bearing life of about 40-60k miles. And my 99 just had a bearing and hub replaced at 35.7k!
To test that as a potential noise source, think about when the noise is present. Does it change or go away if the wheel is turned slightly? On my 95, I heard the bearing hum driving straight but it would go away if the wheel was turned slightly. The noise was a steady hum, kinda like walking on really gummy blacktop or the sound made when your shoes stick to the movie theater floor. New bearings solved it for me.

Well, I've had these tires on my 96 SE, and they are quieter (on most surfaces) than the stock Firestones. But I like my Toyos better than the dunlops.

well, the car has 97K on it, so if it is this, i guess i can't complain. will the wheel fall off if it is this and you don't take care of it? maybe ill just jack up the car to check some day when its sunny. never noticed the humming changing pitches, cuz i never listen when im turning i guess. louder when im going at least 30 or so.
i will always have a comeback! :o)

I had a set of D60s on both cars after I got rid of the Firerocks, both sets made noise. They were quiet for a little while at first, then they started to growl and make whopping sounds. Now have SP5000s on mine and Pirellis on hers. Been quiet so far.

About 30,000 on mine and I'm going to take them off before they wear out completely because of the noise. Also they have become really slippery when wet. I hated the original Firestones. Bridgestones next, because I can get such a good deal.
