Question. Correct me if I am wrong, Many turbo kits have been installed on N/A engines in the past with a universal type turbo and custom exaust manifolds exc: /?\
Anyway My point being is with a Custom chip upgrade and some custom exaust work why cant a standard universal charger be used on our cars without maximum boost ..naturally you would want to prevent detonation. It just seems that this is going on all over the place and we continue to run N/A or with our 3500 dollar turbo system. I may not be a geniouse on 4 cycle engines but is there truley a flaw with our car that makes it impossable to do this??

thanks
DJ

Not really. The zetec has a couple of different header designs available. You could possibly cut the 'end' of the header and weld a flange that is compatible with a turbo manifold. Could be a pain.

Duratecs are more difficult due to the limited room.

This is ture ...z tec has alot more room to work with however with some relocation of some things I think a custom turbo instal would fit nicely. If I get some positive thoughts from some folks I will get on it

Ofcourse you could custom build a turbo to fit just about any car. The questions is are you going to do it yourself? Its all about fabrication. If you have the means to do it yourself, well then more power to ya! The materials exist, thats for sure.

But that's where Street Flight comes into play. They've already done the fabrication. Not only that, they've done the required tuning. That's what you are paying for. You may be able to build one yourself, but there is a alot of time involved. You just have to decide whether time/engineering/materials/tuning is worth the money saved.

The only place I see it being a shame here, is the price of that specific kit. I don't mean its now worth it, I only mean that other car owners aren't forced to extract their kidney in a seedy motel bathroom to pay for it.

Any boob can slap a turbo onto a car. Getting it all to work properly, is another story.

I want to stress here, I'm not calling you a boob and I'm not saying don't do it. If you have the means and brains, and a little cash to buy materials/turbo/fuel tuner, go for it!

Yeah I know a tuner down the road from me ...he has his own shop and was reered by a friend ...guess he is pretty good.. after the instal I am gonna take it to him to set everything up to par ..this is a rather small turbo only .44 in .48 out but will help I think ...plus the learning experiance is well worth it for me.
thanks for the input
