Guess I should have read the forums first.....

Hello all again,

Seems like my problems never end with this car....thanks for all the help with regards to the high speed vibration, I will have the tires balanced and such when I take the car in to correct this latest problem....

I am unsure of exactly what would be doing this but here goes...

Tonight I was comming on the line full throttle when my rev limiter seemed to kick in at about 5K RPM instead of 7k where I expected it, either that or there was a fuel delivery problem

After that the car started bucking in second gear....seems like the problem is isolated to high RPMs...

I am wondering if this is what "moosing" is and if it is a common problem?

any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Also anyone know of a good dealer in MA? I am in the framingham area...thanks

email me at mjancsics@hotmail.com

No, it sounds like a fuel delivery problem - as in fuel pump.

Have you checked your fuel filter to see what kind of condition it is in?

A clogged filter shouldn't have this severe of a reaction, but it may point you to some other problems.

Thanks for the responses,

I have not had a chance to check the FF yet as I just noticed the problem tonight and it was really dark out....I am going to take it in for service tonight as it needed a tire rotation and balance anyway...I hope they can get it fixed by wednesday as I have to take the car to CT this weekend.

Try replacing the fuel filer and hopefully that will cure the problem. A fuel filter is so easy and cheap to replace. The problems you are describing are exactly what my 2000 SVT had before I replaced my fuel pump.

Thanks for the advice....I just took it into service tonight and told them what was going on and that I thought it was either the fuel pump or filter.....I will also be getting my tires balanced and rotated so hopefully that helps my shaking issues.

Bad spark plugs (switch to AWSF22FS)
Bad IMRC
Bad fuel pump

I'd change the plugs first and go from there.

It has noting to do with moosing or throttle hang.

BTW - What was the fuel tank level at???

It was at just over a quarter of a tank......never thought about plugs or IMRC but heck it could be anything as I never expected a fuel pump to dump at only 26K

I would check what DemonSVT suggested before getting to the fuel pump since those things are not as difficult or as expensive as changing out a fuel pump on a 2000 contour but I would bet that the problem is the fuel pump. Good Luck!
